Celine Leonard was born in Northern Ireland in 1953. She did her primary degree in Trinity College, Dublin and finished a Ph.D in the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1984. She then changed career direction and gained her licenciate in acupuncture at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in the Worsley 5 Element tradition in 1987. She then trained in TCM and in 1998 she finished her diploma in chinese herbal medicine.
From the late 90's she began specialising in gynaecological conditions and in 2002 she began working with the Merrion Fertility Clinic in Dublin, helping couples through ART procedures.
In 2010 she completed a 2 year post graduate course in TCM gynaecology taught in Zurich by Professor Yuning Wu. As a result of that course, she began a collaboration with Professor Wu and other colleagues in writing a textbook on the treatment of gynaecological disorders and infertility with CHM and acupuncture. This book is finally nearing completion. Celine has lectured to undergraduate and postgraduates both in Ireland and at the conference at Rothenburgh in Germany.
She has twice taught the CM part of a course whereby practitioners of CM join a register of those qualified to work with ART clinics in Switzerland, teaching them how to use herbs for specialist use in gynaecology and ART. She is passionate about the use of CM to treat the distress that can be caused by gynaecological disorders and by infertility. She is also passionate about the ways in which skilled use of the traditional CM disease categories of cycle disorders can increase our effectiveness in practice.
